Environmental sustainability refers to the responsible use and management of our natural resources to ensure that future generations can enjoy them as well. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, global temperatures have increased by 1.1°C (34°F) above pre-industrial levels, leading to more frequent and severe heatwaves, wildfires, hurricanes, and floods. Also, over 1 million animal and plant species are at risk of extinction, with deforestation and habitat loss being the primary causes. To achieve environmental sustainability, we must find sustainable solutions that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve natural resources, and promote biodiversity.
